Linking up with Jodi with a portrait of each of my children once every week for 2015.

Space for the Butterflies - an eclectic handmade life

Kitty: You’ve always been happiest being with people and joining in with what they’re doing and that doesn’t show any signs of diminishing, I think you will always be a people person.  And it means that you are very good company.  We weeded out one of our two veg beds this week, pulling up grass and dandelions while Pip snoozed or chatted on my back and Elma watched from a cushion in the doorway.  And afterwards you sat down in the blossom and turned your face up to the sky to lick the raindrops that were just starting to fall.  It was all very picturesque until the rain turned into hail and we all scuttled for the house at high speed.

Elma: This week you got your very first badge.  It was for completing the latest foundation gymnastics block at gym club and no doubt will be the first of many but your face when they called your name at parachute time and you ran across the stripes was just so happy and so proud of yourself.  I was trying to take a picture of you holding the badge up so we could all see it but you love it too much to let it go.  Even when it was awarded you almost forgot the certificate that goes with it, and then tried desperately to hold onto the badge and play parachutes at the same time.  I need to find some way to display it for you because otherwise it’s going to get lost and that would be so sad.

Pip: Captured mid chuckle – you have the best little giggle but while you smile a lot the chuckle only comes out for really special occasions, like the time you lobbed the end of your corner of toast straight across the dining room table.  Your sisters didn’t throw like that, time will tell whether we do have a smashing cricketer in our midst or just a boy who isn’t too keen on the crusts.

And as it’s voting season I would be truly grateful and honoured if you would consider voting for me in the MADs Blog Awards for Pregnancy Blog, Baby Blog, Preschool Blog and/or Writer.  I promise I won’t keep asking so much it gets annoying but as I’m only eligible for the baby and pregnancy categories this year (unless I have another baby which seems a bit extreme) I have to ask!  You can nominate here, you only need to give an email address and it takes mere moments – thank you x

Elma is looking so grown up and so proud, we used to have all our swimming badges sewn onto a towel – I hope you find a good way to display it!

So did we – all along one edge which was great for showing your badges but not so useful when you wanted to get dry! I’m really tempted to buy her a plain shirt and sew it around the edge to be her gym shirt – it would just be so cute wouldn’t it!

Every one of those photos just seems extra special this week. Somehow you’ve managed to catch them all at a special moment, but totally unaware of the camera’s presence. Just utterly beautiful.xx
