A portrait of each of my children once every week for 2015.

Space for the Butterflies - an eclectic handmade family life

Kitty: Chief Adventurer. So delighted to be beside the sea once more, even if she wasn’t at all keen about getting her beloved wellies dipped in the sea.  But she was warm and snug with roses in her cheeks and the taste of salt on her tongue.  Only the promise of fish and chips for lunch could persuade her to leave the beach.

Elma: Enthusiastic wearer of food. There’s nothing that she eats that does not end up smeared across cheeks, dropped on the floor or swirled into pretty patterns on the tablecloth.  And it’s when properly sticky that she comes running over for the biggest cuddles.  In looks she becomes more and more like Kitty every day, especially with her hair tied back, but she’s very much her own little independent self. That’s what happens when you have two parents with a fairly strong stubborn streak.

Pip: We’re so often told how tall he is, how very big for only five months old, and it’s true, but it belies the fact that in the grand scale of things he is really so very very little; my happy smiling little boy.  This week he’s not wanted to be apart from me, any kind of putting down has been met with rampant displeasure so he’s been spending a lot of time in the sling.  And though sometimes it feels like I’ll never get anything done ever again I love the feel of him snuggled in and being able to drop kisses on a sleeping head.  The washing up will wait.
