I planted two chestnut trees last spring. It will be many years before they produce and I’m already eager to have them. I’ve planted them for the wildlife. I don’t think we’ll use too many chestnuts.

Despite collecting hundred of conkers these are only good for playing with – we need sweet chestnuts for Christmas but they’re fewer and further between!

We’ve been collecting chestnuts as well. When I lived-in England we called them konkers. My daughters love to play with them. Thanks for sharing, and have a lovely weekend.

They’re just so lovely and shiny fresh out of the shell aren’t they – so incredibly inviting!

We are being swamped with conkers and sweet chestnuts here too. There’s something about them that just seems universally appealing.

Oooh lucky you to have sweet chestnuts too – here it’s just wall to wall conkers!

She was really funny with it – curious but slightly reluctant to touch anything that looked that prickly!

We had a fav chestnut tree for years and noticed this year that it was cut in prep for new development 🙁 Have to look for a new one in the neighbourhood, although we haven’t seen many over the years… Lovely photo!

Oh no – it’s sad to loose a conker tree, they’re such a massive part of the childhood memories of just about everyone I know!
