Siblings 2016: July

Pip has been to the beach before it’s true, levitra but I think the last time was last summer when he spent a happy and very sandy afternoon crawling around the tide puddles just down the coast from Cherbourg.  He wasn’t yet one, he wasn’t walking, or talking, or throwing. Nearly a year later and it’s all changed and so it was high time we took him to see what he made of the sea with a quick trip down home.

He was as happy as a sandfly, wriggling himself comfy in the shingle, scattering handfuls of tiny pebbles all around him and settling in to enjoy all the fun.

The girls meanwhile were rediscovering all their favourite beach games; Elma dug giant holes just because, and Kitty dug giant holes to look for the most beautiful pebble on the beach, made shiny and beautiful by the tide, and usually discarded for a new favourite when it dried in the sun.Space for the Butterflies - Siblings

It was lovely watching Pip; part of him had all his own ideas about what to do, and so he’d run off in one direction in pursuit of sandy feet or something, and then he’d notice what his sisters were up to, and rush off to copy them.

He wasn’t so sure about all of it though; all three of them lines up on the water’s edge to skim stones and see who could throw a rock to make the largest plop, but one dip of a tiny toe and ankle in the sea and he was hotfooting it back up to the ridge line and the nice warm dry pebbles.  Kitty on the other hand was all for it, and Elma only less so.  Both of them reappeared rather more damp than they’d set out; Elma wet to her knees and Kit pretty much wet all over after a bid to rescue a rock had coincided with the incoming wave.

The three of them have had a good month.  It’s been busy, and with school and gym classes and ballet classes and playgroup and forest group sometimes it seems like there’s always one of them off doing something, but as the months and years go by they become only more solid as a trio.

They can wind each other up a treat, especially Kitty and Elma who invariably want to play with the exact same toy at the exact same time, and it’s going to be a while yet before Pip gets past being a King Kong figure to all their Duplo and block buildings, but they’re put in the shade by the moments when Kitty and Elma decide to spend a whole morning having a colouring club, or when Elma and Pip make a play kitchen breakfast for everyone, or when all three of them settle down on the floor to make a farm with bridge to a pirate island run by their family of little dolls who live in a pop up caravan around the corner.

Or just possibly gang up on their mother to make silly post ice-cream faces when she foolishly asks them to smile!

Two little sisters, and their brother too, in July:

Gorgeous photos of your little trio as always Carie – they look like they were having an amazing time at the beach even if Pip wasn’t too sure about the sea! Love those silly post-ice cream faces too and that last photo is just gorgeous. Hope you all have a wonderful summer. #thesiblingsproject

They do look like a solid trio, content side by side as much as playing with one another. Beautiful photos, I’m glad Pip enjoyed the seaside, if not the actual sea!

I love these photos, so much fun. You’ve also made me eager to visit the beach again, I can’t wait to see how Lyra reacts to it this year now she’s a little older. It’s amazing how children all react to the beach differently and find different games to play on it. #thesiblingsproject
