Linking up with Jodi with a portrait of each of my children once every week for 2015.

Space for the Butterflies - an eclectic handmade life

Kitty: We went to your future school this week for their school fete and aside from trying to win Daddy a bottle of beer in the tombola (sadly we didn’t win a thing, or perhaps luckily given that a lot of the prizes seemed to be bottles of orange squash), your biggest wish was to have your face painted.  You sat so very still and patiently while swirls and stars were added, and your smile when you saw it for the first time could light up the world.  On the way home you were quite determined that you weren’t going to wash your face until you could show everyone in nursery.  As you don’t go to nursery on the weekend and we thought it would go a bit mushed up we agreed that we’d take some pictures instead and I’ll print one for you to take in.  I’ve got a whole heap of pictures of you smiling sweetly but I love this shot the most; you were dancing around the garden, singing and just totally in the moment.

Elma: Your love of playing on the swings isn’t going anywhere, and you still get cross if I try to push you when your Daddy is there because he can send you soaring.  So he pushed, and I caught you mid- flight, beaming at everyone as you swooped back down.

Pip: Oh my little sleepy man.  You were far to interesting in seeing our friends and in everything that was going on around you so by the time you got to the swings you were ready to snooze, and as the swings went back and forth, back and forth, your eyelids got heavy and flickered and when down and down and when you started to look like a very grumpy Churchill I scooped you up and out and back into the sling.  You were fast asleep and snoring in seconds.

I am utterly thrilled and over the moon excited to be a finalist in Baby category of the 2015 MADs Awards. To have made it to the final six in the blogging equivalent of the Oscars is a dream come true. But truth be told, I would really love to win! And so if you enjoy reading here, please would you vote for me? It literally takes seconds, you don’t need to be in the UK or a blogger – parenting or otherwise – and it might just make my year!  Voting is open until 16th June.
