Elma Family Kitty

2013: According to Kitty and Elma

02/01/2014

Kelly at Domestic Goddesque published a lovely set of New Year’s Eve questions for little ones  earlier this week.  I saw it and though oh that will be so much fun to do with the girls when they’re a bit bigger; when Elma can say actual words, or when Kitty understands the concept of their being more to the past than “yesterday”, or at a stretch, for something that was a really long time ago: “last Friday” (I don’t know why Friday but such is the quirk of my three year old daughter).

But then I thought why not now, why not record what they thought of the year, in all their leaps of imagination, unusual associations and baby babble.  And so, without further ado, let me hand over to our guest interviewees, and their thoughts on the year past, and the year to come, as recorded by your faithful scribe.

Kitty

What’s your name? Kitty (well she actually said her real name but you can allow a little artistic license).

How old are you? I’m 3.

What’s your favourite colour? Pink and Purple.

What’s your favourite food? Pie (which incidentally we were about to have for supper!).

What’s your favourite thing to do? Play with the pram at Grandma’s house.

WHAT WE DID IN 2013

What is your favourite memory? Going to see Auntie Zee and Uncle D.

What did you learn to do this year? Umm…. riding my scooter.

What did you find hardest this year? Taking the boots off. [Ed note: the scribe was unsure whether she means her own or the ones on a doodle bug that make little stamps but she declined to elucidate].

What was the best thing about this year? Painting Mummy’s face. [Ed note: the scribe has no recollection of that ever happening, and rather wonders what happens while she is asleep].

LOOKING FORWARD TO 2014

What would you like to learn to do this year? Ride my donkey (with a gesture towards her rocking horse).

Where would you like to go this year? Sainsburys.

What are you most excited about this year? Santa Christmas coming. [Ed note: I hope she realises she’s got a bit of a wait for that one!].

What is your biggest wish for 2014? Pink hair. [Ed note: not in a million years!]

Elma

What’s your name? Ahh.

How old are you? Uh-oh!

What’s your favourite colour? Ahhh!

What’s your favourite food? Oooooh!

What’s your favourite thing to do? Ummm.

WHAT WE DID IN 2013

What is your favourite memory? Miss Elma made no comment but peeked around Mummy to smile beautifically at her Auntie A-L.

What did you learn to do this year? No comment, but she climbed onto the coffee table for the first time and sat there smiling.

What did you find hardest this year? She climbed onto the coffee table again.

What was the best thing about this year? Elma climbed onto the coffee table again and sat there saying “Uh-oh!” at which point the interview was temporarily paused while interviewer and interviewee moved slightly further away from the coffee table.

LOOKING FORWARD TO 2014

What would you like to learn to do this year? Aaaaaaaaaagh!

Where would you like to go this year? Elik. [Ed note: anyone who knows where that is, please let me know!]

What are you most excited about this year? No comment, but Elma pulled all the paper onto the floor around her and then drew a nice green swirl on your faithful scribe’s notes.

What is your biggest wish for 2014? Uh-oh! [Ed note: said while sitting on top of your faithful scribe’s note which was interpreted to mean something along the lines of “stop asking me silly questions Mummy and let me get back to eating this crayon please”]

I shall have to remember to come back at the end of the year and see how the answers have changed, and whether any of their wishes and dreams came true, although I think was can safely say that Kitty will get to go to the supermarket.
